What kind of conveniences do you look for in a Toyhauler? Could you really name every single item that you’d want in this type of a trailer? Well, if you can then this would most likely be the RV of your dreams.
For those of you seriously searching an escape from the mundane, step inside and embrace this opportunity to immerse yourself in the new 2007 Next Level 38SKD triple slide by Holiday Rambler.
A Place for Everything
When it comes to storage space this triple slide from Monaco Coach is simply off the charts. No matter how much of your home you bring with you, I know you’ll be hard pressed to fill the seemingly endless supply of Newport Cherry cabinets that line the interior of this second home. I know how important storage is to those with kids, but it doesn’t seem to matter which area of this coach you are in, everywhere you look you will find available spaces to fit your needs. For those outdoor chairs and miscellaneous stow-away items there is a massive (122 cu. ft.) storage area that’s accessible from either side of the trailer that includes ample lighting for easy nighttime use. The garage area has got some hefty overhead cabinets of its own, and yes they are just pleading for some of that man (and woman) gear to fill them up. Just below you’ll find the wall mounted stainless steel towel holder and rack for various fluid containers.
While we’re in this well lit, well ventilated garage (that resembles the Taj Mahal compared to my own) let’s get some measurements so that we know which toys we’ll be able to take along with us. According to my tape we’re just shy of 119 inches from the front garage wall to the rear ramp door. In the area of overhead clearance my measurement is 6’ 2” from the floor to the bottom of the cabinets. And because this is a wide body you get the full 102” exterior width (this is the widest you can legally go). Since we’re on the subject of toys, located in the garage floor are plenty of 2,500 lb. recessed tie downs to insure your load remains secured to the heavy duty easy to clean PVC flooring. The fold down ramp door is rated at 2,500 lbs. and covered with a coating of non skid flooring to ensure greater traction and better vehicle control while loading.
Form and funk-shun
Form and function seem to flow together in the design of this vehicle to the point that they no longer seem separate. If we break this RV down to its basic structure we will see that it is just as different from other haulers as we are from each other. Typically in most trailers the framing for the walls and roof are constructed of either wood or aluminum tubing. Holiday Rambler chooses to build these trailers from what they call Alumaframe®; this system of framing uses a combination of aluminum H & C channel, creating a method of construction that is lighter, more reliable, and sturdier than either wood screwed joints or butt welded aluminum tube framing. Holiday Rambler also installs a 9-layer roof, 6-layers of flooring, and 6-layers on the exterior walls just to keep you comfortable and insulated from the elements.
To put the funk in function Holiday Rambler has installed a Sirius ready CD/DVD receiver, a 720 watt amplifier, a 10” subwoofer, and four interior 3-way speakers. Two outdoor marine speakers are also included for those out-of-doors groove time. While we’re enjoying the inside element, let’s highlight a couple of the creature comforts that surround us throughout the coach. The built in vacuuming system is number one on my list; this system sure beats sweeping that never ending supply of sand and dirt that nobody seems to track in. Next on the list is the permanently attached ladder for the bed over the garage. This ladder slides into the recessed holder when not in use and then easily folds out slightly when needed (trust me your toes will thank you for this on those dark nights). Located above the front entry door is the utility center which contains the controls for the generator, the fuel gauge, tank switch, and the slide-out switches; this well thought out location keeps small hands from causing havoc during those potentially quiet, restful times. What list would be complete if it didn’t include the two remote controlled A/C units that allow you to make changes in the coach temperature even when you’re in bed? Now if we couple the great multi layer technology used on the walls, roof, and floor of this coach with the cooling capacity of two A/C units, then we have the makings of a very comfortable, temperature stable environment.
Before I get into some of the specs of this trailer I would like to bring up a couple of details concerning the sink and kitchen areas. The kitchen and bathroom countertops have a Corian® edged laminated top with a backsplash which allows for easy cleanup and better control of unattended liquids that you would otherwise find creeping in between the countertop and the wall. This open floor plan contains enough seating in the slide-out dining and couch area to allow the cook enough elbow room to prepare meals without being in the path of egress (one up for the cooks).
Below you’ll find a listing of vehicle weights and tank capacities as listed in the 2007 Next Level literature:
