Swift Hitch
all the gadgets on the market today, it’s refreshing to find one that turns out to be a great multi-tasker. The Swift Hitch is just such an item. Its design is brilliantly simple: a wireless color camera with night vision and a magnetic base paired with a color LCD monitor that connect wirelessly and are both powered by rechargeable lithium batteries. Mount it to your tailgate; watch it on the monitor while you are backing up and hitch up and go! The monitor even has a reverse image feature which turns even the “directionally challenged” into a pro!
I have a unique problem with hitching my fifth-wheel: I have a short-bed truck with a Fold-a-Cover bed cover. This completely obscures my view of the hitch out the back window, which required me to use hash marks to line up. The Swift Hitch has eliminated that problem.
With a 300-foot range and a four-hour battery life, the Swift Hitch is a serious multi-tasker. Relegating it to perform as its moniker would be a shame. My buddy Chip and I have come up with a few alternate ideas, like inspecting wiring in tight places, pulling your trailer up onto leveling blocks, backing your trailer into tight places, brake inspection, and even checking for any problems between a set of dually tires.
The Swift Hitch sells for about $300 and is available online at www.swifthitch.com.
