What can we say about Weekend Warrior Trailers that has not already been said? Imitated—often, Innovative—always, in Demand—MOST DEFINITELY!

It seems like it was just yesterday, but it’s been an astounding 18 years since Weekend Warrior’s line of trailers started popping up along the Imperial Sand Dunes in California. What does warrior C in their future? Presently, they are in the final stages of launching their first fleet of C class units. Needless to say, we wanted to get the hole-shot on the competition to bring this story to you first. Their latest mix of recreation, transportation, and fun for all is appropriately called the “Road Warrior.”

OUTSIDE C’ING IN
When I first saw this coach my immediate response was: “I want to drive this rig!” I’m jazzed about the Road Warrior, just like I was the first time that I saw a toyhauler. It’s a feeling you never forget. I think we can all agree that this is one great looking coach, and we’re just as excited as you are to see it. So just sit back and let your eyes do the work because they’re in for some serious candy. The Road Warrior is built on a Kodiak 5500 chassis which has a GVWR of 19,500 lbs. and measures just short of 35 feet in length. The chassis cab has plenty of room for your elbows as well as your legs so you and your passenger can remain comfortable during those long trips with the family. In the power department you’re the boss; you get to choose between the 8.1L gas engine behind door number one and the 6.6L 300 horsepower Duramax diesel motor behind door number two (I bet I can guess which one you’re going to pick). To transfer all those ponies down the line, the Kodiak chassis includes a 5 speed Allison 1000 series automatic transmission with overdrive (overdrive is a very good word in the fuel economy department). When it comes to rolling, this coach rolls on six heavy duty Goodyear 225/70R19.5 (almost twenties) tires mounted on those great looking Alcoa aluminum rims.
Now that we’ve discussed the chassis we can get into the meat and potatoes of this rig. Remember how much you love the fuel station on your hauler? Well, so does Weekend Warrior. That’s why they built an optional 40 gallon pumping station right into the unit...YES! What a great way to keep the customer happy: give them what they want. Since we’ve crossed over into the storage tanks, I’ll list some very important capacities on this coach: fresh water 80 gallons, grey water 65 gallons, black water 46 gallons, and fuel (chassis) 80 gallons. To add one more element to the list of capacities, the Road Warrior is fully equipped with a 7000 lb. hitch. This gives you the ability to bring all those toys right along with you (or use it as an excuse to buy another one).
The exterior of this unique RV is bonded fiberglass boasting one of a kind molded front and rear caps that proudly display the Weekend Warrior logo. I can’t wait to see the new graphics. I’ve heard that Troy Lee was working on some special art work for this coach, so you know the final product is gonna be smokin’. Since we’re on the outside of the coach I’ve got to show you the storage. Near the bottom sides of the rig Weekend Warrior has conveniently included a few large storage bins for all of those items that you just can’t leave at home (would you have expected anything less?). While you’re loading and unloading those outside items you can shade yourself and your favorite beverage from the sun’s rays with the equipped 18 foot electric awning. Now that you’re in the shade, why not complete your day by serenading yourself with the optional Kicker sound system? Time to chill!

FLOORING IT & STORING IT
The Road Warrior offers three floor plans, two of which are not toyhaulers. This gives you the freedom to choose the ride that best fits your needs. We toured the RWT 3400 floor plan, which contains two slides and gives the unit a wide open feeling when you walk inside. The living area of the coach has two queen beds, one over the driving compartment and a second one over the garage. Both sleeping areas include 14” TVs and perfectly placed storage cabinets for clothes and bedding. There’s a u-shaped dinette with some very nice features that fully utilize space, function, and above all...looks great. Across from the dinette is a comfortable sofa bed that’s in just the right spot to view the 20” TV in the entertainment center above the entry door. Just below the 20” TV is the command center that houses a centralized information panel for viewing your tank levels, generator switching, and circuit monitoring. Billet interior is the only style available in the toyhauler model at this time, but this coach is new so expect many surprises from Weekend Warrior in the coming months.

The food preparation area shares the driver slide with the dinette. But given the design of the coach, there is still plenty of room for both functions. As I walk through the kitchen I make note of amenities, such as under the cabinet coffer maker, water purifier, sink covers, paper towel holder, and even a knife holder behind the stove. The molded fiberglass counter top has a 60/40 sink with a single lever faucet and sprayer. In the cooking department there is a three burner stove with a convection oven mounted in the cabinet below. This design allows more natural light and ventilation to the cooking area. Linoleum flooring in the kitchen and entry areas complete the residential feel to this home away from home. As I walk through this coach there is no question in my mind that this motorhome was built by the same quality minded people that have made Weekend Warrior the success that it is today.

On the RWT 3400 model a rear garage is included that spans a length of ten feet. Take note: this is one of the only class Cs that I have ever seen that has an actual ramp rear door, and not the typical removable ramps or hydraulic lift. The combination of the beaver-tail floor in the garage and the height of the coach will definitely assure easy loading in this hauler unit. If you look above you’ll see that there are plenty of overhead storage cabinets inside the garage. If you look hard enough you might even catch the Bling Star rack on one of the walls (nice).

Now we’re going to move into an area where we spend a large amount of our time resolving issues and contemplating. This very important room is otherwise known as the bathroom. This room is equipped with everything you’ll need behind one door: a shower/tub, a sink to wash up, and even a foot flush porcelain toilet with a spray nozzle. The large molded one piece sink is easy to clean and includes a medicine cabinet for all of your bandages and toothbrushes. Weekend Warrior has even provided a power vent to assist in ventilating the room during times of high humidity, and...you know.

Weekend Warrior makes it highly apparent that their creations culminate around riding, which is the very reason their recreational units conform to the usability and the comfort of the consumer so well. What can we say about the “Road Warrior”. The only thing missing for us was a matching utility trailer. As of this writing, the Road Warrior is supposed to be unveiled at the California RV Show in Pomona October 13-22, 2006.
Warrior has its ideas copied so often that they try to keep their innovations as quiet as possible, so keep checking their website at www.warriormfg.com or call 800-500-9914 to find out what new and exciting things are available.
