Combi Cam Keyless Cam Lock
Now that toyhauler manufacturers have stepped up and added all the options you could possibly dream up for your rig, the question of security comes into mind. Perhaps the weakest points on any RV are the access doors for the storage compartments, the outdoor audio/video area, and the vent doors for the garage. The storage and audio/video compartments can easily have thousands of dollars worth of equipment in them and if someone gets into the garage, well, let’s just say we won’t be going riding this weekend.

We have featured several different security items to help with these weak spots over the years and have come across one that may be the best yet. This product is called a Combi-Cam. It is a replacement for the mass-produced key access provided by most manufacturers and is basically a combination lock for the access doors. The great part is you can set the combination to match all the locks on your rig. So now rather than fooling around with skimpy keys that fit every RV on the planet, you have your own code.

The way they work is really quite simple. You remove the current key lock by removing the nut on the inside of the access door. Then measure the distance from the back of the head where the key goes into the arm that keeps the door from opening. You are measuring the shaft itself. (See illustrations.) The distance will be either 5/8”, 7/8” or 1 1/8”. This will tell you which Combi-Cam you need to order. The only real decision you need to make is do you want them on every point that has a key. Some rigs can have as many as 16-20 different areas that are key locked. Our feeling is only the compartments with valuables in them need the extra security. It’s not very likely someone will be after your outside shower or sewer hose, so those doors may not need the added protection.

Combi-Cams come in either black or chrome and can be ordered in single units for $19.95 or a pack of four for $64.95. To order online please, visit www.toyhaulersupplyhouse.com or you can call 888-442-2155 for more information.
