Starcraft Model Weights
When you hear the name StarCraft the first thing you think is camping. Recognizing the need to have a toyhauler in their line-up of trailers, the engineers at StarCraft have been burning the midnight oil developing their own version of a toyhauler. Part travel trailer, part flat bed, with 'tip-outs’ that remind you of their very popular pop-up campers. The first thing you notice about this trailer is the way it sits. The beefy tires and aluminum rims give it a real off-road kind of look.
The cargo area is actually forward of the living quarters. You access the platform via two aluminum ramps that stow away beneath the cargo area. It is also covered in diamond plate material and the tie downs are located in the corners. There is plenty of room for full size toys of many types.
The 'tip-outs’ are used as the primary sleeping quarters and the dinette converts into a third bunk on this unit. These beds are large and roomy. Anyone who has ever slept in a pop-up knows how much room there can be. The interior really opens up nicely with the beds out.
The kitchen had all the good stuff with a three-burner stovetop with oven, a microwave and a two-door refrigerator with the optional raised panel front. It also had a very large, dual stainless-steel sink with an extra-tall faucet. All the windows had mini blinds standard. They also added raised panels to all the cabinetry and used residential-grade drawer guides.
There is good storage throughout the trailer and an extra large closet at the rear.In the bathroom there is a vanity complete with medicine cabinet and a small sink. The shower had a skylight and a tub.
We noticed that the fit and finish on this trailer was excellent. All the joints lined up, the cabinets were level and the layout was very user friendly.
Outside, the rear of this unit has a spare tire carrier and a bumper with drain hose storage, both nice features to have. There are also four manual leveling jacks.
StarCraft has developed several models of these hybrid toyhaulers, starting at 18' and going up to 23' with sleeping arrangements for up to ten.
Some of these units can be pulled with a half ton tow vehicle, but the larger trailers may start to creep over the GVWR for a half-ton when you add toys, gas, coolers, etc.
The list of available options has all the usual goodies on it. You can order everything from A/C to axles. StarCraft offers a one-year hitch to bumper warranty and extends its roof coverage to 12 years.
The evolution of toyhaulers just keeps getting more and more interesting! For more information on the complete line of StarCraft products you can call them at 1-800-945-4787 or visit them online at www.starcraftrv.com.
